I'm
behind the ball in reporting, but Giant confirmed that its O Street store is closing on September 8, 2011 (my birthday for anyone who's keeping track...). This means that the long anticipated, catalytic, beautiful, huge
CityMarket at O project is about to start!

Devastated! Safeway is farther and not that great. Whole Foods is too pricey to do all the shopping there, capital Market, well good for a few things but wouldn't go near the meat/seafood. I knew this was coming, but it still makes me sad. What will all the lower income people for whom Giant is a serious walk for already do?
Sounds great, but how come we haven't heard anything from Roadside confirming/denying the closure and the start of demolition/construction?
They've been eerily quiet through all of this.
Hopefully everything is on track with the HUD loan and they just don't want to jinx it... still would be nice to get actual information and confirmation from the developer on where things actually stand.
Very exciting but I agree with ML...with the size of this project you'd think if financing was wrapped up, the never-ending delays were over and construction was imminent Roadside Construction would be releasing that info...why haven't they?
Very exciting, but I agree with ML...where is Roadside's official announcement on this project? If financing was complete and construction was imminent you'd think Roadside would be the first to release that news...nothing on their CityMarket at O blog since April...
