Weekend Shoutouts

The following are just a few of the many things going on in the great Shaw neighborhood this weekend:

1. Inaugural Shaw Monthly Cleanup Saturday Morning - This awesome new monthly event--where you can meet and mingle with neighbors and spruce up a chunk of Shaw--kicks off tomorrow. The forecast looks relatively mild, so you've got no excuse but to have some neighborhood-enhancing fun. Meet at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at the OLD Watha Daniel Library; Bring gloves, friends, and some water for yourself. For more details, check out a .pdf of the flyer here.

2. Artist Reception Saturday Night at the Long View Gallery for Charlie Gaynor - The Long View Gallery opens its latest show, Charlie Gaynor's Saturated View, this Saturday night from 6 to 8 pm. This show of BEAUTIFUL architectural-inspired photography is a must-see. Check out a .pdf of the press release here.

3. Tasting at Modern Liquors Friday - Stop by Modern Liquors on the way home from work tonight for a tasting of summer drinks made with Castries Peanut Rum Cream.

4. There's Always This Fun Stuff To Do in Shaw - These regular weekend options are ALWAYS great: the Liberation Dance Party at DC9, the shows at 9:30 Club, Black Cat, Arena Stage, and Studio Theater, the cultural offerings of the Warehouse Arts Complex, Project 4 Gallery, the Ninth Street Gallery, and the Long View Gallery, the chance to get your freak on and knock back some drinks at places like Avenue, Be Bar, Nellie's Sports Bar, and Old Dominion Brewhouse, and great meals at Vegetate, Etete, or Queen of Sheba.

How 'bout adding a drink at The Space? I think they're still open to the public at this point....

Thanks for the consistent shout-outs, says a Shaw resident who works at Arena Stage! The link you've got is dead, though -- check out www.arenastage.org for current info, and again, thanks for including Arena...
