Take home materials to start growing your own. Pre-registration required. Cost: Sliding scale $5-$15. Details here

2. Artist Reception at Long View Gallery for Dana Ellyn on Saturday Night – Saturday night from 6 to 8 p.m., The Long View Gallery hosts an artist reception marking the opening of their new exhibition of paintings entitled “I Call Shenanigans” by D.C. artist Dana Ellyn. Long View’s exhibition of Dana’s work runs from June 9 – June 30, so if you can’t stop by tomorrow night, make it by sometime this weekend.

The Shaw Community Day planning meeting is tonight. Those east of 9th St (though folks on and West of 9th are certainly welcome) who want the event to be a nice occassion to spend time with neighors and great time to bring the kids (and/or dogs?) out for some fun in the neighborhood should take part in the planning meeting. Blagden Alley has it's annual cookout, those of us East of 9th need fun things to call our own. MVSNA has already given their support to Rev Boddie on this one, so has Commissioner Chapple.

Don't wait for a new ANC2C Commission. Start creating a better neighborhood today.

Thanks for the shouts, guys/gals. I always leave out stuff (usually unintentionally), and welcome suggestions for weekend shoutouts. Email them to me at slumhistorique at yahoo dot com.

Thanks!

Try Euro Cafe if you haven't yet. I went there twice this week, and I can't believe how much care they put into their sandwiches. Their "club" is quite delicious snd only 6 bucks or so.
