A holiday affair

Looking to host a party this season? Tired of attending company parties at the same old spots? Think about renting out one of the unique gathering spots in the Shaw neighborhood for your event. Here are a few places you might want to consider:

1. The Space - Located at 903 N Street, NW (between 9th and 10th Streets), The Space is a beautiful industrial style loft with white brick walls, a vaulted ceiling with exposed white duct work, polished cement floors, a glass garage door, and sleek stainless steel bar with professional Viking kitchen. The Space would be a great place to host a cocktail party, a corporate event, a cooking class, a wine tasting, or a variety of other unique events to celebrate the season. Street parking may be available, and it's just a few blocks from the Convention Center Metro.

To book The Space for your next event, contact Jodi Silis at jodi@international-lifestyles.com or at 202.341.3340.

2. Warehouse - The Warehouse Arts Complex on 7th Street can accommodate parties for 20 to 200 people. Street parking may be available, and it's just 1 block from the Convention Center Metro or 4 blocks from the Gallery Place Metro. Call Molly at 202.783.3933 to arrange an event in the theater, bar or gallery spaces.

3. Engine Company No. 7 - This old firehouse located at 931 R Street offers over 5000 square feet of floor space, a modern kitchen with industrial Wolf stove, exposed brick, dramatic architectural lighting, the original brass firepole, and impressive views of downtown Washington from the roof deck. Presently the home and studio of neon light sculptor Craig Kraft, the building serves as his art studio downstairs and a magnificent living and entertaining space above. On and off street parking are available. To find out more about the Kraft Studio and Firehouse, call them at 202.588.9655.

4. BeBar - A modern space that impresses all strangers to it (and continues to impress its veterans), BeBar can host private parties of just about any size. Street parking may be available, and it's just a few blocks from the Convention Center Metro. Call 202.232.7451 to discuss options.

5. The Longview Gallery - The Longview Gallery's industrial space, adorned with beautiful regional artwork, makes for an impressive venue for a small or large cocktail party. Street parking may be available, and it's just a few blocks from the Convention Center Metro. Call 202.232.4788 for details.

6. Vegetate - Vegetate’s cool space, designed by Kube and furnished by Muleh, has a private dining room that may be reserved for larger parties up to 14. They can also accommodate larger dining/private party options. Call 202.232.4585 to plan an event.

Know of others I’m leaving off? Let me know.
