Last weekend I was tipped off that the building at 9th and O was being sand-blasted. Is this a sign of new life on this corner? Let's hope so!
The retail space on the first floor was last occupied in 2000 by the Wah Jiang Carryout. The Health Department closed the restaurant for a series of violations, including problems with plumbing fixtures, inadequate refrigeration and hot holding equipment, unclean food contact surfaces, and evidence of mice.
According to the D.C. Real Property Tax Database, this building belongs to Huang Qing, a resident of Flushing, New York. No recent sales appear to have occurred.

UPDATE: See anon's coment on 12.28.06 regarding this property; apparently the power-washing was only to abate some violations regarding abandoned properties. The windows are now boarded up to secure the building.
Here's to actual revival of this property.
