While I don't normally focus on politics here, today's electoral activity gives me a good excuse to start plugging Cary Silverman for the Ward 2 City Council seat. Cary's campaign tag line is "Working for our neighborhoods first," which, as pointed out at PQ Living, takes aim at "the incumbent’s part-time work status when it comes to Council duties." Cary's community leadership resume is extensive and praised by his current and past constituents. Among many other roles, he has served as an ANC2F Commissioner and Chairperson and as president of the Mount Vernon Square Neighborhood Association from 2006 to present.
If you'd like to learn more about Cary, Tomorrow night (February 13, 2008) from 6 to 9 p.m., there will be a "meet the candidate" party in "The Vault," the historic downstairs room of the District ChopHouse (509 7th Street NW) where the original vault of the Second National Bank once stood. Drinks and light appetizers served, and the first drink is on the house. No minimum contribution is required to attend, but donate any amount towards Cary's campaign for a chance to win some great prizes (like dinner at the District ChopHouse, cooking class with Chef Jean-Claude LeLan, and movie tickets).
