Weekend Shoutouts

The Shaw area brims with weekend fun. Here are a few options:

1. Opening Reception for Latest “Nine-by-Ten” Show at William W. Parker Gallery Friday Night - Washington Project for the Arts\Corcoran ("WPA\C") hosts an opening reception for its newest a new Washington nine-by-ten” exhibition series exhibition. Like other exhibitions in this series of 9 shows, this upcoming show provides an outlet for 10 WPA\C member artists.

WPA\C's 9x10 Series Opening Reception
Friday, September 21, 6-8pm
William W. Parker Gallery (above Mickelson’s Fine Art Framing)
629 New York Ave, NW

2. Happy Hour Hop - We're developing formidable happy hour crawl potential on lower 9th... Start at Old Dominion Brewhouse for their nightly draft beer and appetizer specials, then hit The Space for their champagne happy hour (lasts til 9) or just to enjoy a drink on the rooftop, then head to Be Bar for one of their famous martinis (1/2 off select martinis til 9), and finally land at Vegetate to enjoy a fresh inventive cocktail or wine/beer selection with a full meal or a delicious dish off of their lounge menu.

3. Play in the Dirt - Fall is here and the weather's gorgeous; it looks to be a perfect weekend to spruce up your front yard with some fall colors or to start looking ahead to Spring. The good folks at the Garden District, a short walk from your Shaw doorstep, are great at advising you on what you could or should do in your yard.

4. These Regular Options Are Always Great -the Liberation Dance Party at DC9, the shows at 9:30 Club, Black Cat, Arena Stage, and Studio Theater, the cultural offerings of the Warehouse Arts Complex, Project 4 Gallery, the Ninth Street Gallery, and the Long View Gallery, the chance to get your freak on and knock back some drinks at places like Avenue, Be Bar, Nellie's Sports Bar, and Old Dominion Brewhouse, and great meals at Vegetate, Etete, or Queen of Sheba.
