Free Money for Your Renovation??!!
The D.C. Historic Housing Grant Program is a new program that makes homeowners in the Shaw historic district (and other historic districts) fitting certain income guidelines eligible to receive a grant valued at 35% of applicable D.C. income taxes toward the expenses of rehabilitating their homes. Pretty cool, right? Of course certain restrictions apply (like the fact that rehabilitation costs must be allocated to structural repairs or exterior work), none of which seem too onerous. All in all, it seems like a great resource, so check out the website for more info and start dreaming about your home's makeover.
