Weekend Shoutouts

Today’s weekend Shoutouts will have to be abbreviated, as work is cramping by blogging style today (as work pays and blogging doesn’t, I can’t be too upset I guess. . .).

1. Chris Juengel at The Space on Saturday NightThe Space will feature one of my favorite, yet-to-make it big-time musicians, Chris Juengel (pictured), at The Space's first monthly acoustic event. Never heard of Chris? Check out his awesome, soothing sounds here and, when you fall in love with his music, buy his CD here. There will be a cash bar for this special event, with drinks only $5. Doors open at 9, and Chris goes on at 10. There's a $10 cover unless you rsvp to jodi@international-lifestyles.com before tomorrow night, so RSVP!!!

2. Cocktails and Veggies at Vegetate – Stop by Vegetate for dinner tonight or tomorrow night or for brunch on Sunday to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine or a cocktail with your meal. I, myself, am hoping to chill in their lounge at some point this weekend myself.

3. The usual fun stuff in and around Shaw - Check out the Liberation Dance Party at DC9, the shows at 9:30 Club, Black Cat, Arena Stage, and Studio Theater, the cultural offerings of the Warehouse Arts Complex, Project 4 Gallery, the Ninth Street Gallery, and the Long View Gallery, and the chance to get your freak on and knock back some drinks at places like Avenue and Be Bar.

I'm surely leaving off a few specific notable events, so chime in if you know of something particularly great going on in our great neighborhood!

You'll get the full force of Christ, don't think you won't. He was sheer weakness and humiliation when he was killed on the Cross, but oh, he's alive now--in the mighty power of God! We weren't much to look at, either, when we were humiliated among you, but when we deal with you this next time, we'll be alive in Christ, strengthened by God. Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don't drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups.

Weird they...

Anywho... I can vouch for Chris Juengel's talent having heard him play many many times in North Carolina. He puts on a wonderful live acoustic show playing original songs and even mixing in some well-known covers. If you can make it to the space Saturday night... it will be worth it for sure!
