The CCCA Blog reports that a new casual sit-down and carry-out eatery is going to open at the corner of Sixth and R Streets, Northwest (the former home to Chain Reaction Bikes). To be called The Toque Cafe, it will offer a menu "that is both varied and simple based on wholesome and healthy Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine."
Exciting!

Very exciting, chicken schwarma and falafel right around the corner! And the outdoor seating would be great there. I wonder if they will keep the "Shaw Bike Tour" and other sign up...
Yeah, this is exciting. Especially the prospect of sitting out under that tree on their patio.
While I don't usually put 'middle eastern cuisine' and 'breakfast' together, I'm hopping this place works out in the morning as well. Would be a nice place to have a coffee, read the paper and watch the world go by.
I'm also hoping they go for quality food and drink products and not the budget stuff.
ml you've never had basterma & scrambled eggs :) with yogurt on top!
this is GREAT news!!! oh i hope its good!
I'll take your word for it Si on the Basterma, eggs and yogurt (the 'Goog' tells me basterma is cured beef) and happily give it a try at some point.
Though it looks like Toque's breakfast fare may trend less exotique.
Here's a full menu that's been posted: http://www.moultonrock.com/ToqueMenuSample.pdf
