Holidays at Vegetate

Here are a few things from Vegetate's latest newsletter that make it a special holiday spot in Shaw:

1. Bring a Donation, Get a Discount
“Cupboards Are Bare at Food Banks” was the headline of a story in the Washington Post last Saturday and in an NBC news story earlier this week. There's been a sharp decline in food donations to the Capital Area Food Bank, where our area’s local soup kitchens and smaller food banks get their food. The Food Bank now has about 230,000 pounds of goods, compared to 570,000 pounds at this time last year. This is a devastating contrast in supplies and is exacerbated by the holidays. To help the Food Bank and area non-profits that provide food to people at risk of hunger, Vegetate asks that all customers bring nonperishable food items when they come to Vegetate for dinner. Each person who brings a donation will receive a 15% discount on their meal.

2. Gift Certificates
Vegetate gift certificates make great gifts for the holidays. Please stop by or call 202.232.4585 to purchase (if you buy a gift certificate over the phone, Vegetate can mail it/them for you).

3. New Years Eve
Vegetate will be open for dinner on New Years Eve from 6pm-11pm, and their 2nd floor bar and lounge will be open until 1am with our lounge menu available until midnight. There will be complimentary champagne toast to bring in the New Year and Vegetate's very own DJ Dredd will be spinning. You can make a reservation using the link on Vegetate's homepage.
