Town Danceboutique Opens Saturday

After much anticipation, rumor and speculation, Town Danceboutique, Washington's first major Gay dance club to open in decades, opens for business this weekend. The club is at 8th and U Streets, making Shaw quite a hub of gay nightlife activity with Nellie's, be bar, Taint at DC9, and Blowoff at the 9:30 Club (speaking of, Blowoff is tomorrow night).

Tomorrow night (November 17th) kicks off the first installment of Town's weekly Saturday night party, "UPTOWN," featuring a classic dance party vibe. Doors open at 9pm and there's a $12 admission (21 and over only). The night will feature music by David Knapp and Wess and performances by X-Faction. Alcohol service stops at 3am and the party continues until 5am. You'll have to wait until next weekend to experience the first installment of Town's weekly Friday night parties, "DOWNTOWN," an edgier, more aggressive party pumping out electropoprock beats.

8th & U? wouldn't that be in LeDroit?

Opps, my bad, it does fall within the NCPC definitions of the Shaw School URA.
However, it's in Kili's Kafe & Lounge.... wasn't that shut down by Jim Graham?

I admittedly play fast and loose with neighborhood "boundaries" -- with the Shaw School URA, I figure it's safe to call just about anything Shaw! Happy Friday!
