Kevin Chapple's forum has two important posts relating to two important structures coming soon to Rhode Island Avenue.
First is this report that the Parcel 42 developer has been chosen. After a rigorous campaign of support, OneDC's endorsed proposal--which many, including myself, believe is an inferior proposal in terms of architecture, community advancement, and economic development (see discussion here) --was chosen by the Office of the Deputy Mayor yesterday.
Second is this this reminder that the DC Public Library will hold a community meeting TONIGHT to discuss plans for the permanent replacement for the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Neighborhood Library. It appears demolition of the old library is finally underway, and it is important that the new design enhance and serve the community well.
Permanent Shaw Library Planning Meeting
6-8pm; Wednesday, November 14 (tonight)
Watha T Daniel (Shaw) Interim Library
945 Rhode Island Ave, NW (in front of Shaw Junior High School)
