Fall weather is here! Here are a few activities going on in and around Shaw this weekend.
1. Take Part in Shaw Monthly Cleanup Tomorrow - this month's neighborhood cleanup will focus on the O Street Corridor. Meet tomorrow morning at 9 AM at 11th and O Streets, Nw. These monthly cleanups are a great way to meet neighbors and to show and to develop some Shaw pride by sprucing up of a stretch of our great neighborhood. Go here for more details.
2. Get Reelly Affirmed - Reel Affirmations, Washington's international gay and lesbian film festival, started yesterday and runs through next Saturday, October 20. The Lincoln Theater, Landmark E Street Cinema, and the Goethe-Institut Washington are the film venues for the festival and are all within walking distance of central shaw. Check out the schedule here.
3. Enjoy a Farmer's Market While You Can - We only have a handful of farmer's market weekends left (November 24/25 is the last of the year!), so check out what the season has to offer tomorrow at 14th and U, NW from 10 AM to 2 PM or Sunday at the Bloomingdale Farmer's Market at 1st and R, NW (right by Big Bear Cafe) from 10 AM to 2 PM.
4. These Regular Options Are Always Great - the Liberation Dance Party at DC9, the shows at 9:30 Club, Black Cat, Arena Stage, and Studio Theater, the cultural offerings of the Warehouse Arts Complex, Project 4 Gallery, the Ninth Street Gallery, and the Long View Gallery, the chance to get your freak on and knock back some drinks at places like Avenue, Be Bar, Nellie's Sports Bar, and Old Dominion Brewhouse, and great meals at Vegetate, Etete, or Queen of Sheba.
