Weekend Shoutouts

Some of these suggestions of things to do in our neighborhood this weekend are too good to miss out on and should instead be considered mandatory.

1. Get Your Halloween on in Shaw - As reported yesterday, there's a lot of Halloween-themed happenings in Shaw this weekend. Read yesterday's post for details on DC9's Rock and Roll Suicide Party tonight, be bar's be: sinful a/k/a "the haunted house party", also tonight, the Africare Block Party tomorrow (featuring a table hosted by Shaw Together with refreshments and pumpkins for kids to decorate), or face painting at the 14th and U Farmer's Market from from 9-1 tomorrow.

2. Veranda is Calling Your Name - Check out--or, if you're like me, go back for more at--our newest neighborhood dining destination, Veranda. Sunday brunch there is screaming my name.

Veranda
1100 P Street, NW
202.234.6870

3. These Regular Options Are Always Great - the Liberation Dance Party at DC9, the shows at 9:30 Club, Black Cat, Arena Stage, and Studio Theater, the cultural offerings of the Warehouse Arts Complex, Project 4 Gallery, the Ninth Street Gallery, and the Long View Gallery, the chance to get your freak on and knock back some drinks at places like Avenue, Be Bar, Nellie's Sports Bar, and Old Dominion Brewhouse, and great meals at Vegetate, Etete, or Queen of Sheba.

Is Veranda definitely serving brunch this weekend? I checked their website, and it's not on the menu..... a brunch option is pretty awesome!

brunch menus are in the menu but I didn't ask last night to see if they're serving this week or not.

Does anyone know if they have mimosas?

I had dinner last night at Veranda and they said they were open for brunch this weekend. I loved the space, friendly staff, great beer on tap, and the hanger steak was amazing. I can't wait to go back.
