1. Shaw's REEL Deal Saturday Night - This Saturday evening beginning at dusk, Shaw Together, Inc. will present The Pursuit of Happyness at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 1401 7th Street NW. 2. Do Brunch at Nellie's - Nellie's has expanded its offerings to include weekend brunch. Open Saturdays and Sundays at 11 and offering a new brunch menu complete with Bloody Mary's, Mimosas, and Bellinis, Shaw's now got another great lazy weekend option.

3. Be Casual and Cool at The Space - Enjoy their champagne happy hour tonight from 6 to 9, DJ's tonight and tomorrow night, a roof deck perfect for hanging outside in this late summer weather, and so much more. The Space's website has more info.

4. These Regular Options Are Always Great -the Liberation Dance Party at DC9, the shows at 9:30 Club, Black Cat, Arena Stage, and Studio Theater, the cultural offerings of the Warehouse Arts Complex, Project 4 Gallery, the Ninth Street Gallery, and the Long View Gallery, the chance to get your freak on and knock back some drinks at places like Avenue, Be Bar, Nellie's Sports Bar, and Old Dominion Brewhouse, and great meals at Vegetate, Etete, or Queen of Sheba.

From 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM, the first monthly Shaw Open House, sponsored by Shaw Main Streets, will allow you to visit a dozen businesses along 7th and 9th Streets, NW, in central Shaw, enjoying samples of food and beverages and refreshments at non-food establishments. Pick up your passport at one of the following locations in order to be eligible for free samples and to win prizes provided by the participating businesses:

Lettie Gooch Boutique, 1911 9th Street, NW
Miller Copying Service, 1123 7th Street, NW
Other participating businesses include Azi's Cafe, Chez Hareg, Dan the Man's Teriyaki & Subs, Grape Legs, La Carbonara Italian Restaurant, Maruka School for Yoga, Healing Arts and Retail Boutique, Old Dominion Brewhouse, and Queen of Sheba Restaurant.
