Shaw boasts a rich history and an exciting future because of its people. Events that bring everyone together in community highlight our greatest asset, which is why I'm excited about this Saturday's first-ever Shaw Community Day. The event takes place at the park at New Jersey Avenue and O Street, NW from 11am to 3pm.
Shaw Community Day will feature sensory overload: a moon bounce for the kids, Shaw's first ever Dog Show (sponsored by Wagtime), balloons, hot dogs, burgers, roasted corn on the cob, drinks, t-shirts, local vendors, health screenings and safety information from experts, and performances from artists like the Lively Stones Gospel Shout Band (the United House of Prayer's trombone, drum and tuba troupe), Lea, the Praise in Motion youth choir and Higher Praise choir. WHOA! That's a lot of excitement for one day, right? Download the .pdf flier for this event here and check Commissioner Chapple's forum here for updates.
