A Google search of George Beheshtian, the man listed on the building permit, reveals that he is connected to the (former?) Georgetown restaurant Fino Italian Restaurant, which also featured live music, a wine bar (YAY!!!), and Italian food.

This is an even more exciting development.

Last I checked Fino was still there, but had moved a block or so down M Street to where Fino's sister restaurant (Twist) had been. The latter had a more eclectic menu, but some of it seemed possibly a little Armenianish. Though, come to think of it, I thought the owner was Bulgarian. Whatever. (My photographs were in a show there for several months, which is the basis for the tiny connection.)

Anyway, glad they're coming here.

hi again - I'm the Anon tipster...sounds pretty cool! (though i get all of my neighborhood scoop from you, generally!)...anyway, i was just thinking that these restaurants are really poised to do quite well, not only from our neighborhood, but also from the offices coming online directly to the south...i.e., 1050 K Street, and the church project...the office crowd business really will help our area restaurants and businesses, hopefully....

Also, a quick question for ShawRez or anyone else (of which i was reminded by another commenter): is there any word on the progress of the hotel? jack's march 22nd newsletter mentioned that a deal had been struck, but i haven't heard anything since then....

Si, let's organize a Caucasian feast for our neighbors! You do Armenian, I'll do Georgian. Two of the most overlooked cuisines in the world!!

Hear that? It's the sound of Shiloh scrambling to find 5 nonresidents to protest the liquor license application. Because it's places like this that are ruining the neighborhood!

Shiloh: "Oh No, we can't let the children be exposed to such a dreadful establishment!!! There might be (gasp!) wine served in that evil place!"

LOL.

Anyone know what the status of Nima's is? There ABRA meeting was Jul 18th, but as of August 1st they dont have a license for alcohol.

Just wondering when we should expect it to open
