Time is of the essence to show your support for Queen of Sheba in its seemingly unjust struggle to get a liquor license. Please consider writing a letter to the ABCB and faxing it in ASAP (the hearing is next Wednesday!) so that the ABCB knows that the Shaw community supports this new business’s success.

Re: Support for Queen of Sheba’s Liquor License #73644 - URGENT
Dear Chairman Burger,
I own and live in the house located at __ __ Street, NW. I write to state my full support for the ABCB’s approval of the liquor license application submitted by Queen of Sheba (1503 9th Street, NW, License # 73644).
Queen of Sheba is the type of sit down restaurant that my neighborhood desperately desires, and the ABCB’s approval of its liquor license is imperative for Queen of Sheba’s survival. Queen of Sheba offers my neighborhood a fine dining alternative to the carry out restaurants nearby. In addition to its unique and delicious food, Queen of Sheba has provided my neighborhood with much needed foot traffic, thus making my street a lot safer. The portion of the block on which Queen of Sheba sits is commercial in nature, so it is very appropriate that Queen of Sheba be allowed to serve alcohol. The ABCB’s denial of Queen of Sheba’s liquor license again would surely quash any hope of additional restaurants and retail filling the vacant structures along 9th Street anytime soon.
Please feel free to contact me at anytime regarding anything discussed herein, and please approve Queen of Sheba’s liquor license.
Kind regards,

Only a couple of people supposedly from Shiloh showed up with Mary Sutherland to protest the liquor license for Queen of Sheba. That's hardly a representative number. In fact, objectively, it would seem that despite the apparent lobby from the bully pullpit, most Shiloh worshipers don't support the anti-liquor license nonsense. Shiloh probably has a diverse congregation. Why can't someone on 9th St write up a petition, stand outside on Sunday, and find out how many Shiloh parishoners actually support what others construe to be Shiloh's policies.
Yes, it seems (although I wasn’t there and don’t know the ins and outs of ABRA law) that the ABCB bent the rules for an inadequate showing of opponents.
Your idea is definitely intriguing. I think anything like such a petition would have to come from within the church, however, and not from a neighbor. I think it is indicative of Shiloh’s leadership if Mary represents just a vocal minority yet the church quietly sits by saying nothing. If Mary doesn’t represent the church as she generally avers, then the church needs to admonish her accordingly.
Dear Chairman Burger,
I have lived, paid taxes and have voted in Washington, DC since 1982. I write to state my full support for the ABCB’s approval of the liquor license application submitted by Queen of Sheba (1503 9th Street, NW, License # 73644).
Currently, we have very few options in our neighborhhod for full service restaurants. Queen of Sheba is the type of sit down restaurant that our neighborhood needs, and the ABCB’s approval of its liquor license is imperative for Queen of Sheba’s survival.
Sincerely,

faxed mine today! thanks for the form.
faxed mine on Tuesday.
in regards to petitioning shiloh members, it really wouldn't matter because the protest process only requires 5 people. that "group of 5" does not necessarily represent shiloh in the ABC board's perspective.
mary doesn't necessarily represent shiloh - I think she merely name drops as a member of shiloh. shiloh is well represented by having many of their members working for the DC government.
regardless, everyone should fax in a letter of support even if it simply reads "I support the liquor license application for Queen of Sheba."
If anybody is having problems getting through to the 727-4052 fax number (it wasn't picking up when I tried earlier), try 202-442-9563.
Yes, I had problems getting through with the(202)727-4052 number since the early AM,but the (202)442-9563 worked just now. Thanks for the tip!
