Crime Meeting with the Mayor and Police Chief TONIGHT

Tonight (Wednesday, February 21, 2007) from 6-8 pm at the United House of Prayer, 601 M Street NW, is the night for the crime meeting featuring Mayor Adrian Fenty and Chief of Police Cathy L. Lanier. Department directors from DDoT, DPW, DCRA, DPR, the US Attorney's Office and DC Superior Court will be present as well as, DC Superior Court Chief Judge Rufus King. This is a unique opportunity for residents concerned about crime to speak directly with the City's top officials. Come out and tell Mayor Fenty and Chief Lanier about the spiralling violence in our community and ask them what they capable of doing about it.

If you haven't already signed the petition for public safety, (available here in .pdf format), do so today and bring it to the meeting tonight. Thanks to Shaw neighborhood activist James Carter for drafting and circulating this petition is to raise awareness about the recent crime in Shaw and demand that specific action be taken by police and city officials to ensure our safety.
