Long View Gallery's Matt Hollis Exhibition Opens Today

Shaw's very own Long View Gallery opens an exciting new exhibition today featuring local artist Matt Hollis. Entitled "Everything is Possible All the Time," this exhibition of ink and pastel drawings will run through February 5.

According to Long View's press release:
Matt Hollis is a young D.C. area artist who, through his work seeks to create a fantastic space – a space where reality is exaggerated and manifests itself in bold colors and on a grand scale. His series of drawings explores the extraordinary and its relationship with the everyday world. Hollis suggests that “this ethereal, otherworldly dimension coexists with the world we know and it is only a matter of becoming aware of its existence.” Hollis points out, through his work, that nature is a perfect example of what he deems extraordinary integrated into the everyday world. His strong belief in the ability to access this world is seen throughout his pieces – revealed through images such as fingers pressing buttons and antennas picking up frequencies.
I saw a few of the pieces while they were being hung; they are uber cool and quite affordable (read: bring your wallet when you visit; you'll want it).

An artist reception will be held this Friday, January 19 from 6 to 8 pm at the gallery.

Ok everyone--I went to the Long View Gallery last night and saw the full Matt Hollis exhibit hanging. This is impressive stuff and really quite affordable for fine art ($300 to $600). You absolutely MUST stop by to see this work!
